The 2007 Canada's Walk of Fame induction event drew hundreds of fans and a host of glamourous celebrities to The Hummingbird
Centre in Toronto.
The annual event is Canada's premier celebration of homegrown celebrity, and this year was no exception.
Alberta rock band Nickelback questioned their contention because of the length of their career.
"It feels like we don't even belong, we've been around for ten years ... we're just squeaking in there," frontman Chad Kroeger said.
"It feels like we should be getting this in another ten years maybe."
Here's some background on the nominees
With over 21 million records sold worldwide, Nickelback is showing no sign of slowing anytime soon.
Over the past year and a half, the band has been recognized with a host of awards and nominations including the distinctive
accolade of "Most Played Artist On Radio" in 2006.
However, the group from Hanna, Alta., isn't letting success get to its head. "I just don't think you can take it
really too, too seriously or take yourself to seriously I guess I think that's for me just keeping an eye on what we're doing and not really get to
concerned about that I think is with is pretty key," said bassist Mike Kroeger.
But the group was caught off guard when it found out it was going to be inducted on Canada's Walk of Fame.
"My reaction was 'what?' There must be some mistake," said Mike Kroeger when he heard the news.
Guitarist Ryan Peake also was shocked. "They must have confused us with someone else," he said.
Having had time to reflect on the honour, though, Peake is genuinely proud of his group's achievement.
"I think it's pretty cool, I'm pretty happy to be from Canada. I can say that to be recognized from Canada is a
big, big thing for me, I think for all of us," Peake said.
While the group jokes that a guard may need to be stationed over the star to stop people spitting on it, they are genuinely
happy to be in the company of some of Canada's luminaries from the arts, entertainment and sports worlds.
Celebrities already inducted into the Walk of Fame include John Candy, Mike Myers, Rush, Donald Sutherland and Don
Cherry.
"Don Cherry's got one?" said lead singer Chad Kroeger. "Sweet!"

As you might know, many of us have big problems concerning the official Nickelback fanclub. There are two categories of fanclub members, US residents and non-US residents (international members). As you know, we international members are treated in a very unfair way: We cannot participate in any contests or fanclub activies. Everything is meant to be for US residents! And since we don't get anything, our fanclub dues (fees?) are higher than the ones for US residents.
We do not think this behavior is fair and we have raised a protest regarding this point to Music Today.
But Music Today, who take care about this fanclub, do not share our request to change the current situation for international members. Their reason is based on a lack of interest to join the official Nickelback fanclub as far as non-US residents are concerned.
For many international members the reasons not to join is this unfair treatment mentioned above.
We have been told there were not enough international members in this fanclub and due to this it was not worthy to change anything. With our petition, we would like to show to Music Today how many paying fans woud be willing to join the fanclub if the treatment for non-US residents would be changed.
If you would join the official Nickelback fanclub in case there would be the same conditions for all Nickelback fans around the world, please sign this petition!
